Sembawang to Pulau Seletar (Northern Coast) Kayaking Expedition

Date: 30 May 09, 0900 - 1730 Hrs

Requirement: 1 STAR kayaking Certified

Cost per pax: $36 with equipments

Max. cap: 20

Distance: ~10km

Type: Coastal Paddling, Island Hopping, River Paddling

Difficulty: Beginner to Experienced

Access: From Sembawang Park

Highlights:

Seletar is one of the older local place names. The Malay word seletar refers to the aboriginal coastal dwellers called orang laut or orang seletar. They lived along the mangrove creeks of the Johor Straits and especially at the mouth of the Seletar River.

Pulau Seletar is one of the outlying islands in Singapore. The clean white beaches and calm waves make it a favourite place for watersports. It is located approximately 3.4 km from Sembawang Park.

We will be launching off from Sembawang Park (end of Sembawang Road), heading East along the northern coastline of Singapore.

Along the route, we’ll be able to see the shores of Malaysia, pass by kelong (villages built on wooden sticks in the sea), fishing boats and maybe catch some wakeboarding action.

Encircling the pristine island of Pulau Seletar, we’ll be able to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the offshore island scenery while paddling in the clear waters. Be on the lookout for the mangroves that give the Seletar region its name.

Lunch will be consumed when we beach up on the fine sands of Pulau Seletar. The expedition will come to an end as we head back to Sembawang Park.

Our Kayaking Expedition is targeted at those who are seeking a fun-filled, sun-soaked adventure in exploring our offshore, untouched island in a kayak.
